Obituary

Dorothy Irene Ruddiman, 79, of Venice, FL, died January 8, 2008 in Venice Hospital with her loving daughter Janice by her side. Mrs. Ruddiman was born in Philadelphia, July 16, 1928, and lived for most of her married life in Robbinsville, New Jersey before moving to Florida fifteen years ago. A wonderful homemaker, Mrs. Ruddiman also worked for the New Jersey National Bank and later Amerigas in Bordentown. She was at one time a violinist the Philadelphia Symphony. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church and recently, a member of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.

Wife of the late John A. Ruddiman, she is survived by three sons and their wives: John and Joan of Allentown, James and Susan of Chesterfield and Patrick and Bernadette of Washington, all in New Jersey, and one daughter Janice Bartner of Nokomis, FL with whom she resided; seven grandchildren, Jake Ruddiman and wife Kate Callahan, MD of Boston, Jillian and husband Robert Connolly of Red Hill Boro, PA, Jayne Ruddiman of Falls Church, VA, Jessica and Kathleen Ruddiman of Chesterfield and Patrick and Sean Ruddiman of Washington; her sister Ruth Lebens of Venice, FL and brother Roy Fernbach of Mineral, VA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ruddiman was a member of the Red Hat Society of Venice, FL, and was active for many years in card clubs in Venice. Her family and friends will lovingly remember Mrs. Ruddiman as an avid gardener, talented craftswoman and keen card player.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday January 17, 2008 at Peppler Funeral Home 114 S. Main St. Allentown, NJ. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great in Hamilton Sq, NJ at 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2008. Internment will follow in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville, NJ. Donations in memory of Dorothy can be made to the Church of St. Gregory the Great, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Sq, NJ 08690.
