Dorothy E. Emley, 91, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Imlaystown, Dorothy was a graduate of Hamilton High School and a long time Allentown area resident. Employed by McGraw Hill for several years, Dorothy was an active member of the Allentown United Methodist Church and was involved with the Allentown PTA and sports booster clubs. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing cards, and loved to crochet and do needlepoint.
Wife of the late Kenneth Emley, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda Emley of Little Egg Harbor and Gerald and Melody Emley of Maple Shade; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Thomas Smetanka of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Jason, Jerald and Brandi Emley; five great grandchildren, Kyle and Kent Emley, Kendall and Katera Handcraaf and Gerald Robert Emley II; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sara Matthews of New Egypt; a sister-in-law, Bessie Nevis of Hamilton, and two nieces, Audrey Russell and Beth Ayres.
Funeral service will be held 11am, Monday, May 5 th at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St. Allentown. Rev. Fran Ballinger will officiate. Interment will follow in Emley's Hill Cemetery, Cream Ridge. Friends may call Monday from 10am until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allentown United Methodist Church, 23 Church St. Allentown, NJ 08501.
