Dorothea E. Farrell,75, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017 with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she earned a full scholarship to the Bellevue School of Nursing in Manhattan, serving in both the OR and Surgical Departments before transferring in 1976 to Booth Memorial Hospital in Flushing, NY as Assistant Director of Peri-Operative Services.
She retired in 1987 to her home in Bayside, Queens where she and her husband resided for their 42 years of married life. She loved traveling, reading, the Arts, nature, spending time with her family, and weekly dining at her and her husband's favorite neighborhood restaurant, "Graziella's" and "Marbella's".
Thea is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Donald Gregory Farrell, who passed on May 14, 2017, at the age of 95, and by her parents, Dorothy Bachner (Nee Koch) and Henry F. Bachner. She is survived by her Stepchildren Donna Farrell Snyder (Tom) of Chesterfield, NJ; Mark S. Farrell (Mary) of Hoboken, NJ; Step Grandchildren Sarah E. Snyder Miller (John McKee) of Boynton Beach, Fl.; Jonathan T. Snyder (Angie Candelario) of Columbus, NJ; and Step Great Grandchildren Kashlyn Grace Snyder and Aubrey Durr; Brother Henry Bachner (Patricia) and Nephew Daniel Bachner, Las Vegas, NV; Niece Mai Lynn Miller (Guy), Fl; Cousins Joan Barnett (Sol), Atlantic Beach, NY; Rita Randazzo (Joe), VT; and numerous other loving Cousins and their families; and many close and loving Nursing friends, especially Carol DeVita.
Services will be held 1 pm Friday, July 21st at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, NJ 08505. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior, or a Veteran's Charity of your choice.
