Doris A. Moore, 88, of Mercerville, passed away Sunday, September 13th at her home. Born in Hicksville, Long Island, she was a longtime Mercerville area resident. Doris was a graduate of Hicksville High School where she played baseball and field hockey. She earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Trenton State; a Masters degree from Glassboro and completed her credits towards her PhD at Columbia. Doris worked for many years as a teacher for Hamilton Township School District, retiring in 1984. She was active in the Democratic Party, including the Mercer County and Hamilton Township Division. She was also a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the Mt. Carmel Guild.
Daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Rottkamp, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Moore earlier this year. Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Moore of West Windsor, grandson Justin Moore of Bozeman, MT; sister and brother-in-law, Bunny and Fred Kniesler of Allentown and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am, Saturday, September 19th at St. Anthony's Church, 626 South Olden Ave., Trenton. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call Friday from 7-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Martin House, 794 East State Street, PO Box 1025, Trenton, NJ 08606-1025.
