Doris L. McDonald, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at her home with her family by her side.Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Doris was raised on the family farm in Columbus, NJ, which remained her hometown throughout her life. She attended William MacFarland High School,where she met the love of her life, James. They were married in 1955 and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.Doris worked as the Court Clerk for Mansfield Township and was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church in Bordentown. She and James spent their winters in Indiantown, Florida, where Doris enjoyed bowling, bocce, and golf. When in New Jersey, she cherished time at the Jersey Shore with her dear friend Leah, visits with family and friends, and especially taking day trips in the car with her husband. Doris’ favorite place was O’Connor’s on Wednesday nights for family dinners.
Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Hannah Nutt and her brothers; Joseph, Henry, ArthurJr and Harold Nutt, she is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years James P. McDonald.Her sons; James McDonald and his wife Wanda of Palatka, FL and Michael McDonald and his wife Krissy of Lehighton, PA. Her daughters; Karen VanSciver and her husband Ron of Columbus, NJ and Susan Ladd and her husband Jim of Beach Haven West.Eleven grandchildren; Eric (Tina), Matthew, David (Christy) and Brian (Casey) VanSciver,Stephen (Sinead) Ladd, Emily (Sean) O’Connor, Melissa Ladd, Jason (Diana) and Patrick(Amber) McDonald, Michael (Jen) and Matthew McDonald. Eleven great grandchildren; Chase,Cruz, Zepplin, Sean, Logan, Lily, Caden, Talan, Kyndal, Skylar and Raegan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Thursday, January 22 at Mary, Mother of the Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Columbus Cemetery,Columbus, NJ. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 21st from 4 to 6 in the evening at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ.Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her
