Donald G. Farrell, 95, passed away at home on Sunday, May 14, 2017 with his family by his side. Born in New York City, NY, on June 2, 1921, he had resided in Bayside, Queens, NY for 43 years prior to moving to Chesterfield Township, NJ. Donald served his Country overseas in France with the 13th Airborne Infantry Division during World War II. He joined the New York City Police Department in 1953, retiring from the 13th Precinct in Manhattan in 1973. He then worked for Republic National Bank as Security Supervisor retiring after 20 years of service.
Predeceased by his parents, Bryan L. and Ellen "Nellie" Farrell (née Fennessy), sister Helen, and brothers Bryan, Kenneth, Bryan, Lester, John, and Francis, he is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Dorothea E. Farrell (nee Bachner); his daughter, Donna Snyder and her husband Tom of Chesterfield, NJ; his son Mark Farrell and his wife Mary of Hoboken; his grandchildren, Sarah Miller and her significant other John McKee and Jonathan Snyder and his fiance Angela Candelario and two great grandchildren: Kashlyn Grace Snyder and Aubrey Durr; and numerous loving Nieces and Nephews.
Donald adored being with his family, loved music, reading, walking, driving, was a life-long New York Yankees fan, and was a devoted member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Bayside. He was soft-spoken and laid back with a charming sense of humor! He was one-of-a-kind and loved by all who knew him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, May 18 at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or a Veteran's group of your choice.
