Delbert Thompson Davis and Joyce Lorraine Davis passed away together on Monday, September 20, 2021 at home with their family by their side. They celebrated 69 years of marriage, raised a wonderful family, and together owned and operated Davis and Sons in Bordentown, NJ.
Del, 89, was born in Louisville, KY, and spent most of his life in the Bordentown area. He was in the Naval Reserves, a member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085, Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 F & AM, AASR Valley of Trenton, the Crescent Shriners, and was a former Mayor of Fieldsboro, NJ. He earned his real estate license and spent his latter years selling homes with Coldwell Banker before retiring. Del enjoyed watching baseball and going to the horse track. He found comfort in a good cup of coffee or an ice cold Coca Cola, and always loved Joyce's wonderful cooking.
Joyce, 87, was born in Trenton, NJ, and had lived in the Fieldsboro/Bordentown area all her life. Joyce served as the administrative manager for the family businesses: Davis and Sons Carpet, Davis Carpet, and Davis Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning, all of which have been serving the local area for decades. Joyce volunteered in several community organizations throughout the years, and thoroughly enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzling. She loved shopping, particularly for clothes and home decor. Joyce will always be known for her exceptional cooking.
Both Del and Joyce adored their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Del was predeceased by his parents: Delbert Davis and Juanita Thompson, and his sisters: Clara Miller and Gloria Thomas. Joyce was predeceased by her parents: James Harbour and Elizabeth Parker, and her brother: Joseph Harbour, she is survived by her sister, Emily Bouloubasis. Del and Joyce are survived by their two loving sons: Kevin Davis and Carole Moore of Bordentown, and Mark and McClees Davis of Fieldsboro. Nine grandchildren: Brian Davis, Michael Davis, Lindsay Golden and husband Bryan, Virginia Davis, Lori Monaghan and husband James, Beth Kelley and husband Phil, Andrea Lesnick, Bryan Lesnick, Melissa Fisher and husband Dan, and Ridwaan Lasker. Nine great grandchildren: Jamey, Caleb, Jane, Arya, Jack, Sadie, Lillian, Julianna, and Emma. And the many beloved members of the extended families of Clara, Gloria, Joe, and Emily. And many dear friends.
Funeral Services for Del and Joyce will be held on Saturday, October 2 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Family and friends have time to visit with the family from 9 am until 11 am. The memorial service will be at 11 am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
