Obituary

Deborah D. Smetanka, 66, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in her home at the Enchantment Community of Hamilton, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Trenton, Deb was a graduate of Allentown High School and was a resident of Allentown and Hamilton all of her life.  She worked as a service coordinator for various companies concluding her career of 20 years at Princeton Air Conditioning.

Deb was active in her communities. She spent many years on the Administration Council for the Allentown United Methodist Church; coordinated and managed the deliveries of Meals on Wheels for the Allentown and Cream Ridge Communities; and volunteered for the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Princeton.

Deb loved to travel and enjoyed the time she spent at her home on Marco Island, FL, where she enjoyed the beach and loved to watch the sunsets. Appreciating the opportunity to travel to many different locales, her favorites were Hawaii and Italy.  She enjoyed baking, taking care of her home, and exercising daily at a nearby gym. Above all Deborah was a loving wife to her husband Tom and a wonderful daughter who took care of her mother for many years. She cherished and enjoyed her many friends and neighbors.

Deborah was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Emley, and her brother, Gerald Emley. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Thomas Smetanka; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Emley, her uncle and aunt, Robert and Sara Matthews; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Ken Matson and Nancy and David Alloway; nephews and nieces, Jerry Emley, Jason Emley, Michele Mullen, Kara Foley, and Christopher Matson; her cousins, Audrey Russell and Beth Ayers, as well as five great nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 14 th from 9am-11am at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Ave, Hamilton, NJ 08690 with a funeral service to begin at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cedar Lane, Hamilton, NJ.
