Deacon David M. Harris Jr., 79, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Born and raised in Trenton, he resided in Bordentown Township for the last 53 years.

He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School and was a member of   the school's alumni association. He began as a corrections officer, became Sergeant and retired as Supervisor Program Development Specialist with the Burlington County Department of Corrections and was a member of the County Jail Association.Deacon Dave served St. Mary's Parish of Bordentown both spiritually and was the business administrator with the church. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past member of the Bordentown Lodge BPOE#2085.

"I was ordained to serve my church and its parishioners and that I served to the best of my ability and with love for all of them."

Son of the late David and Alice Harris, brother of the late Thomas Harris and beloved husband of the late Rosemarie D. Harris, he is survived by his daughter: Trisha Fasick of Plumsted, his son :David M. Harris and his wife June Gazek-Harris of Roebling, four grandchildren: Donald R. Matney and his wife Landry, Giulia R. Matney, Brittany H. Matney and Rebekah Harris, three great grandchildren: Carlene and Blake Matney and Cameron Porter, his brother: Joseph R. Harris of Lavallette, NJ and his sister: Alice Wilke of West Berlin, NJ.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Friday, January 17 at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family, Thursday evening from 5 to 9 pm and again Friday morning 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ 08505 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
