David E. ""Boog"" Powell, passed away peacefully with his devoted wife by his side on Thursday evening at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in Princeton, he had spent most of his life in the Chesterfield area working as a Corrections Sergeant for the NJ Dept. of Corrections.
He was an avid sports enthusiast who loved the Philadelphia Eagles and spending time with his faithful companion, Rocky. He also loved golfing in Myrtle Beach with his friends, Bob Fisher and Andy Polascak, and lifting weights with dear friend, Steve Walker. David was a member of Beverly-Riverside Lodge #107 F&AM, and Bordentown Elks Lodge No. 2085.
Son of the late John Powell and Mary Callaghan and brother of the late John Michael Powell; he is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Penny; three sons, Dean Powell and his Fiancé, Melanie McCollough, Charles and Nancy Miller, Phillip and Angie Miller, and Joshua and Tricia Jones who were like his son and daughter in law; a brother, Arthur Thomas; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Russell, Sarah, Abby, Emma; a brother and sister-in-law, Rose Liedtka and Lucian Craig; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for David will be held Wednesday, 8pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Rev. Jay Rambo will officiate. Interment will be private. Friends may call Wednesday evening, from 5 to 9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in David's honor to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053 and/or First Baptist Church of Bordentown, Prince and Church Streets, Bordentown, NJ 08505.
