David Earl Melton, 71, of Cream Ridge, New Jersey, went home to God on December 5, 2023, with his adoring wife and children by his side. He was born on July 22, 1952, on the Naval Base in Lakehurst, New Jersey. David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

David attended Allentown High School and went on to work as a tradesman in various fields including mechanics and welding. He was a Black Seal-certified HVAC technician, showcasing his dedication and expertise in his field.

David was an outgoing and humorous individual, always ready to crack a joke and bring laughter to those around him.  He had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, spending countless hours pursuing this hobby.  He never missed an opportunity to cast a line during trips to "the cottage" with his wife and dear friends, Bob and Carol Simms.  Ever the road trip enthusiast, David also enjoyed a drive through the Cream Ridge countryside with the windows down and the music up.  Above all, family was incredibly important to David, and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and creating precious memories with them.

David is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jane Melton, who stood by his side through thick and thin; his children, David Melton II, Erica Melton, and Alicia Cromwell (spouse Timothy), as well as his grandchildren, Logan and Mitchel "Mickey" Melton, Jonathan "Jon" Yost, and Joseph "Jac" & Thomas "TJ" Cromwell.

David also leaves behind his siblings, Johnnie, Teddy, and Eric (spouse Lorianne), and his stepchildren: April Lindes, Chris, and Adam Jellison, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Wygant Melton, his father, John R. Melton, and his sister, Elizabeth Melton.

Arrangements are being handled by Peppler's Funeral Home in Bordentown, New Jersey. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held on Friday, December 15th, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street in Bordentown. A Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home from 4:00pm until the time of service, and again after until 6:00pm.

David will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His sense of humor, love for fishing, and dedication to family will forever be remembered and cherished. May light perpetually shine upon him.
