Obituary

David L. Ezell, 82, of Bordentown Township, NJ passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Dave joined the United States Air Force as a young man. While stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, in Wrightstown, NJ, he met Joan at a dance on the base, beginning a love story that would span more than 61 years of marriage. Together they built a home, raised their family, and created a lifetime of cherished memories in Bordentown.

Following his military service, Dave worked as a Laboratory Technician, finishing his career at HTI in Trenton. He cared deeply about his community and devoted many years to coaching youth baseball and basketball. For more than 50 years, he was an active member of the Star Civic Pool Club, where countless friendships and family memories were made. He was also a dedicated member of Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085 for 24 years.

Dave found happiness in the people and pastimes he loved most. Whether riding his bicycle, camping, shooting hoops, playing tennis with a friend, or competing in a friendly game of quoits, he treasured every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. An avid animal lover, he had a special fondness for the many pets that were part of his life over the years and delighted in spoiling the family's grand-dogs. He and Joan especially looked forward to camping trips to the Amish countryside of Lancaster County, where they enjoyed the beauty, simplicity, and traditions of the area.

Known for his quiet strength, kind heart, and steady presence, Dave will be remembered for the love he shared, the friendships he nurtured, and the devotion he showed to his family.

Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Irene Ezell, and his son-in-law, Jeff Carboni, Dave leaves behind his beloved wife, Joan Ezell; his daughter, Beth Ezell of Levittown, Pennsylvania; his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Carrie Ezell of North Port, Florida; his cherished grandson, Joey Ezell and his girlfriend Kelly; his brother-in-law Bob Pittenger and his wife, Diane; his brother-in-law Jeff Pittenger and his wife, Debbie; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews.

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, at Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, New Jersey. Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dave's memory to the Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, 23 Vreeland Road, Suite 105, Florham Park, NJ 07932.
