Colette Clarke, 82, of Metuchen and formerly of Staten Island, passed away on June 2, 2026 at Millstone Township, NJ. Born in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, she moved to the United States in 1963 with her husband, also from Dundalk, Ireland who joined the US Army, with a brief stay in Germany. She lived in Queens, NY before moving to Staten Island, then settling in Metuchen, NJ. She attended Richmond Community College, now The College of Staten Island, went on to achieve her master’s degree at Hunter College, NYC, as well as attending Adelphi University in Long Island, where she studied law. Colette took on many professional endeavors, including teaching special education, flight attendant for a private airline, insurance broker, working for a Judge in the courts of NY and teaching GED to young adults. She became a Real Estate Broker/Manager for Weichert Realtors in 1987 and went on to work on home construction sites for companies, including The Baker Company, where she retired from in 2016 at age 72. She loved sewing for her children and grandchildren when they were young, but above all enjoyed traveling back-and-forth to Ireland every year to spend time with her family.
Daughter of the late Michael and Mary Clarke (nee Higgins) of Dundalk, Ireland. Colette is survived by her son, Gary Sally, and his wife, Annie, her daughter Anita Hahn and son-in-law, David; her grandchildren, Liane, Ciara, Michael and Kate Sally and Benjamin Hahn; her great-grandchildren, Jack, Stella and Thomas; her sisters, Rachael and Mary; her brothers, Pat, John, Paul, Martin, Brendan and Fulton, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family here and in Ireland.
A viewing will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main St., Allentown, NJ, with a prayer service to conclude the visitation. Cremation will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Colette‘s name to The Christina S. Walsh Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 401, New Brunswick, NJ 08903 or at christinaswalshbcf.org/donate.
