Obituary

Clarence Ronan, 83, most recently of Whiting, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday October 26, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Clarence grew up in Bordentown and Manahawkin, NJ. He attended William McFarland High School in Bordentown prior to enlisting in the Navy. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Catherine (Hannah) on April 15, 1951. They moved into a home in Jobstown and raised their 3 children. When they retired, they moved to Weaverville, NC and enjoyed the mountain views. He cared for the love of his life for many years as she struggled with Alzheimer's prior to her passing in December 2012.

Clarence started his professional career at Swift, Incorporated in 1951 as a Machinist Apprentice. His experience in machining and production resulted in future positions with DeLaval Turbine where he retired as a Manufacturing Engineer in 1987. Clarence was also involved in local politics serving as both a Committeeman and Mayor of Springfield Township, NJ. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff in Burlington County. When not working he enjoyed supporting his children's activities, listening to Country music and had a special passion for stock car racing. He spent many years racing on the local South Jersey circuit under his driving name of "Chic" Ronan.

Son of the late Lester and Estella May Ronan and brother of the late William Graham, Robert Graham, Betty Meredith and Leonard Ronan; Clarence is survived by his daughters and son in laws, Kathy and Richard Swann of Weaverville, NC and Debra and Tom Richford of Allentown, NJ; his son and daughter in law, Ken Ronan and Debbie Hisayasu and granddaughter, Mariko May Ronan, all of Bainbridge Island, WA; a sister- in-law, Helen Graham of Allentown, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special son, Scott Ely of Morrisville, PA and special "3rd daughter", Lori Shook of Tabernacle, NJ. He, along with Catherine, was also an honorary Pop Pop and Mom Mom to many of the children of their dear friends. Clarence was loved by many and missed by all who had the pleasure of spending time with him.

Memorial Service will be held on 12 noon on Friday, November 8, at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main Street, Allentown, NJ. Friends may call from 10 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of his loving wife, Catherine, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
