Charlotte Hughes, 93, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Bartley Nursing Home in Lakewood, NJ. She was the head of a large Irish family numbering seven children; 14 grandchildren and 15, great grandchildren plus four more on the way and one great great grandchild. Charlotte loved her family and spent many years living in the various households watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren growing up. Charlotte was born in Guttenberg, NJ to George and Anna Stephan. She married the late Tom Hughes and lived in West New York, NJ and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked for many years in the embroidery industry which led to a prolific hobby of crocheting. Every family household has a throw or other item to remind them of her skill.

She is survived by her children, Carol Ann Maloney of Allentown, NJ, Tom Hughes of Hampton, VA, Maureen Dattoli of Jacksonville, FL, Kathleen Friedel of Allentown, NJ, Bonnie Hicks of Newport News VA, Michael Hughes of West New York, NJ and Tim Hughes of Huntington, Long Island, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9am at St. John's Church, Allentown NJ on Saturday October 23rd followed by a burial in Flower Hill Cemetery, West New York, NJ. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-9pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown, NJ.
