Obituary

Charles H. Schoonover, 78, of Yardville, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. Born in Dallas, PA he was a long time area resident. A US Army Veteran, he retired from the National Sponge Cushion Company in Trenton after 36 years of employment. For the past 13 years, Charles was serving as a crossing guard for Hamilton Twp. and just received the "Crossing Guard of the Year" award. He also spent his summers working as a security guard at Veterans Park. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a past member of the German American Club. Charles was a devoted husband to his wife Jean and was beloved by all that knew him.

Son of the late Draper and Ruth Schoonover, he was predeceased by his first wife Jeanne Schoonover; his brother William, Loren, Matthew; his recently deceased sister, Barbara and his granddaughter, Erica. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jean Schoonover; his step children, Lewis Jr. and Karen Bivona, Lisa and Rev. Michael Shaw, Allan and Linda Bivona, Kevin Bivona and Randall and Janet Bivona; his sisters, Alice, Helen, Jesta and Emma; his grandchildren, Steven, Lewis III, Justin, Rebekah, Matthew, Allan Jr., Greg, Benjamin, Rocky, Jennifer and Samuel as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 12pm on Friday, July 24th at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St. Allentown. Friends may call Friday morning from 11 am until time of service. Entombment will follow St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
