Charles Edward Palmer, Sr., 86, of Bordentown, passed away Sunday March 2nd at Care-One of Hamilton. Born in Bordentown, he was a lifelong resident. A WWII, Navy veteran, Mr. Palmer retired as foreman from Roebling Steel and later worked for NWL Transformers. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bordentown, the American Legion and was an avid outdoorsman.
Son of the late Samuel and Mabel Fenimore Palmer and husband of the late Ruth M. Palmer; he was predeceased by his siblings, Elwood R. Palmer, Mildred Walsh and Catherine Caparco. He is survived by his children, Charles E. Palmer, Jr. of Bordentown, Dr. Nancy Palmer-Shevlin and her husband Dr. Dennis Shevlin of Robbinsville and Judith Caruso and her husband James of Florence; five grandchildren, Barry and Brandon Winn, Meredith Chanti and J. Scott and Hannah Shevlin; four great grandchildren, Ethan, Ian, Elijah and Aidan Winn and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11am at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 9-10:30am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, 30 Elizabeth St. Bordentown, NJ 08505.
