Celebration of Life for Charles Howell, Jr.

Charles H. Howell Jr., 91, of North Crosswicks, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pleasantville, NJ, he was a graduate of Hamilton High West and resided in Mercerville for several years, before moving to North Crosswicks over 54 years ago. A US Army veteran, Charles worked as an electrician. He was employed through IBEW Local 269 since 1951, working with Hatzel & Buehler Electrical Construction for over 25 years until his retirement in 1998.

Charles was very active with his community. He served on the Hamilton Township School Board and as a Little League coach.  He was a member of Gothic Lodge # 270 F.&A.M. and a longtime faithful member and Trustee of Chesterfield Baptist Church. In his free time, Charles loved spending time on his boat or at his beach house on Long Beach Island.  He was an avid car enthusiast. He and his wife Carol enjoyed traveling, visiting almost all of the 50 states.

Charles' greatest love was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was always there to encourage and support his children and grandchildren with all of their sporting events and school activities.

Son of the late Ida and Charles Howell Sr., he was predeceased by five of his six siblings, Mary Hackett, Theresa Kruger, Amos Howell, Annabelle Toleno, and Ida Martin. He was also predeceased by lifelong friends, Faye and Vernon Welch.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Carol; his children and their spouses, Sharyn and Jim French, Wes and Audrey Howell, Mary and Kelly Bullock, Jim and Nicole Howell; John Howell and Carol Howell; his grandchildren, Jennifer Stults (Brian), Jimmy French (Michele), Jessica Jeitner (John), Wesley Howell (Becky), Katelyn Laird (RJ), Sean Bullock (Elisabeth), Kyle Bullock (Anastasia), Natalie Lollin (Craig), Joshua Howell (Allyson), Nicholas Howell (Samantha); his brother, Louis Howell and his wife Anita; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Thursday, September 26th from 5:30-8pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Additional visitation will be Friday September 27th at 10am at Chesterfield Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11am. Interment will follow in North Crosswicks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to the Chesterfield Baptist Church , 209 Matthews Lane, Chesterfield, NJ 08515.
