Charles E. Gamel, 78, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. Born in McCrory, AR, Charles lived in Columbus for the last 42 years. He retired from Trans America Delaval Turbine after 32 years and later from The New Jersey Turnpike Authority after 10 years of service. Charles was also a retired NJSIAA Official, having officiated for Football, Basketball and Baseball. Charles was a Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 F & AM of Bordentown, a Past Chaplin of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey and a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Central Jersey. He was also a member of Hedding United Methodist Church.

Son of the late Samuel and Nannie Gamel (nee Ramsey), brother of the late, C.E. ""Clyde"", Cliff Gamel and Laura Herbert and father of the late Charles E. Jr., Raymond C. and James C. Gamel; he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Viola J. Gamel (nee Shinn), a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Charles Blackmon of Eufaula, AL, and a son and daughter-in-law, Charles C. and Cheryl Gamel of New Egypt; six sisters and one brother-in-law, Hildred Simmons of West Memphis, AR, Johnnie Mae Stripling of Tyler, TX, Linda Wiggins of Freemont, OH, Mary Smith of Freemont, OH, Margaret Nordman of Monroe, LA and Freda and Louis Natrilello of Deltona, FL; his grandchildren, Anna Gamel, Ashley Gamel Jackson and her husband Adam, Dana Gamel, Justin, Megan and Ryan Missanelli and Chris and Steven Balckmon; one great grandchild, James P. Jackson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Monday, November 16, 2009, at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will be private. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be at 8pm.
