Obituary

Charles ""Scoots"" Adams, 98, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his home in Columbus, NJ. Born and raised in Florence, he served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the forces occupying the Philippines.  After the war, he was elected to the Burlington County Board of Freeholders and was later appointed the Township Administrator of Florence. Charles later became active in the Homestead community where he participated in the Follies, sing-a-long, and the mystery bus trips.  Charles enjoyed traveling and visited Europe multiple times.  He also loved to ski and continued making trips to the Poconos until he was well into his 90s.

Husband of late Evalyn Adams (Kuna); he was predeceased by his parents, Alfonza and Marie Adams; and sisters, Alice and Betty. He is survived by his sister, Jean Richman of Riverton; his beloved daughter Nancy Phillips of Moorestown; his sons, Bob (Shellie) Adams of Mountain View, CA and Mark (Marge) Adams of San Jose, CA; grandchildren, Wendy and Scott Phillips, Jacqueline Ford and Erica Adams; great-grandchildren Tony and Seth West; his close companion, Marion Constable and his compassionate caregiver Nana.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Charles' life will be held 3 pm Saturday, August 24 at the Florence United Methodist Church, 209 Broad St, Florence, NJ 08518. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.
