Obituary

Catherine M. Brettell, 91, of Palmer Township, entered the Church Triumphant on Monday May 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, while in the care of the St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem. For fifty years, she was the loving wife of the late William B Brettell, who died in 1997. Born in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Hartley and Leona May (Farrell) Ratcliffe. Catherine worked as a clerk typist for John A. Roebling and Sons in Trenton and served as a volunteer with Hamilton Hospital. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Hamilton Township, NJ, where she taught Sunday school and was the financial secretary of the church. She also sang in the choir, was in the bell choir, and was a member of the 40-Plus Club and WELCA. She was also an associate member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fountain Hill and participated in the Open Arms program at Arndt's Lutheran Church in Forks Township.

SURVIVORS: Catherine was an incredibly devoted and loving mom, grandmom, and great-grandmom (GiGi) to all the members of her family. She is survived by her sons The Rev. Daniel W. Brettell and his wife Patricia of Palmer Township and Richard T. Brettell and his wife Laura of Bordentown, NJ; by her grandchildren Rebecca and her husband Michael Haffner, Patrick and his fiancée Seble Worku, Kevin and his wife Emily, Caitlin and her husband Christopher Graziano, and Casie; and by her great-grandchildren Aidan, Cathleen, and Abigail Haffner and Lily and Eamon Brettell. She was predeceased by her brothers Hartley and John Ratcliffe, sister Betty Zelanak, and step-sister Catherine Hill.

SERVICES: A Funeral service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 350 White Horse Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08610, on Monday, May14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Daniel Brettell presiding. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will take place at Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville, NJ. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street Bordentown NJ 08505.  A memory tribute may be placed at www.pepplerfh.com .
