Carol Patterson (née Shute)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Patterson (née Shute), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on January 24th, 2025 at the age of 73. Carol passed comfortably and in peace after days with her family. Carol's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ on November the 16th 1951, Carol was the cherished daughter of Jack and Doris Shute. Carol went to Sacred Heart in New Brunswick and graduated from New Brunswick High School, class of 1969, before going to work at Johnson & Johnson and eventually meeting her future husband Larry, later moving to West Windsor, NJ.

Carol married the love of her life, Larry Patterson, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 51 years. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories in Allentown, NJ where they lived until her passing. Carol was a fiercely devoted and loving mother to her two sons, Jeffrey and Kevin, and a proud grandmother to her grandson, Ryan Patterson, her shining star and an immense source of joy and light. And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Paige, her little rescue dog that brought her so much happiness in recent years.

But Carol's passions extended beyond just her family. Carol was an antique fanatic and the family genealogist and historian and loved spending time at the beach, specifically Manasquan. Through the years she was the source of good news and tidings, keeping the family up to date on what was happening with jobs, homes, kids and celebrations across both Patterson and Shute family lines. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and her legacy of love and compassion will live on through her family and friends.

Carol is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Doris Shute. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Larry Patterson; her sons, Jeffrey (Jessica) and Kevin (Robyn); her grandson, Ryan; her brothers, Jack (Lori) and Bob (Carol) and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held at a later date, when the weather is just right, for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to debra ( www.debra.org ), an organization near and dear to Carol and the Shute family, in Carol's memory.

Carol's love, kindness, character and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
