Carol Lynne Cooper, 72, of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at The Haven at Silverwoods in Toms River. Born in Houston, she was a longtime resident of the Houston area prior to moving to Oklahoma and most recently to New Jersey. She was a graduate of Central State University in Edmond, OK where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in Music. Carol's passion was music. She was performing and singing since the age of three and was active with music for her entire life. She was a vocal instructor and piano teacher and also taught preschool music classes. She was a former member of the Houston Symphony Chorus and a member of the Shrewsbury Chorale, singing with the group at Carnegie Hall. Carol was also very active in her community. She started the first organ donor hotline in Oklahoma and was the former Director of Marketing for the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross. Carol loved her family and enjoyed life, living each day to the fullest.
Daughter of the late Marion and Mary Birowski; she is survived by three children, Shannon Harris and her husband Scott of Barnegat, Carol Cooper-Braun and her husband Adam of Chesterfield and Laura Hammar and her husband Carl of Weare, NH; her grandchildren, Chase Patterson Cooper, whom she raised, Scott Jr. and Trinity Angel Harris, Brendan Zelinsky, Bethany Zircher, Gabriel and Nathaniel Hammar and Adam and Amelia Braun; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Cynthia Birowski of Dallas; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Henry Brunner of Dallas; her former husband, Paul Patterson Cooper, III of Houston as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held 11 am on Friday, May 17 th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Allentown Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund, PO Box 6200, Merrifield, VA 22116-6200.
