Carl M. Scharite, 54, of New Egypt, passed away Sunday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Trenton, he was a lifetime area resident. Carl was a member of the NJ Carpenters Local 2250 of Red Bank and an accomplished artist. He was a master craftsman and boat builder. Carl was a lifeguard for many years at Long Beach Island State Park and during his award winning high school swimming career, he broke many records of which some still stand today. Carl was a devoted husband and loving father and will be missed dearly.

Predeceased by his brother, Edward Scharite, he is survived by his wife, Judith Runge-Scharite; two daughters, Paige and Emily Scharite, both of New Egypt; parents, Frank and Joan Scharite, of Ellisdale; sister-in-law, Kathryn Wood of New Egypt; niece Melody Lloyd and nephews, Daniel and Bryan Wood as well as other family and close friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday 11am at Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St. Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Ellisdale Cemetery.
