Captain Richard D. Seeth

Captain Richard D. “Rick” Seeth, 77, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, with his family by his side.

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Rick grew up in Glen Rock and Ridgewood before settling in Yardville, where he made his home for 50 years and raised his family. Rick attended Wesley College in Delaware before beginning an apprenticeship with the Sandy Hook Pilots. That apprenticeship marked the start of a 46-year career with the United New Jersey Sandy Hook Pilots Association. He became a full branch pilot, guiding ships through the Port of New York and New Jersey.

Rick had been flying since his twenties and carried that passion throughout his life. A private pilot, he flew a Mooney M20G Statesman and regularly made the trip from Robbinsville Airport to his retirement home in Venice, Florida. At home, Rick enjoyed relaxing in his pool and entertaining family and friends. He loved a good party and the chance to bring people together.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, George and Alice Seeth, and his wife, Nancy Seeth. He is survived by his son, Dan Seeth, and daughter-in-law, Dawn; his daughter, Kate Monette, and son-in-law, Mark; his grandsons, Benjamin and William; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Karen Seeth; his nephews, Jamie and Tim; and his former wife, Patricia Lavenberg.

A memorial service will be held on November 15, 2026 at 1pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main Street, Allentown, New Jersey.
