Obituary

C. Malcolm Knowles of Crosswicks passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at St. Francis Compassionate Care in Trenton. Born in Crosswicks, he resided there most of his life. Mr. Knowles attended Junior High School #3, Hamilton High School and Bucknell University where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Alpha Phi Chapter. An electrical engineer at TransAmerica-DeLaval for 39 years, he was secretary of the Bucknell branch of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Mr. Knowles served in various offices of several Historical Societies including, Burlington County, Chesterfield Township, Allentown & Upper Freehold Township and Bordentown Historical Societies. He was a member of the Society of Friends and a charter member of Friends of the Old Yellow Meeting House. He was an amateur photographer and furnished photos for publication in the ""Chesterfield Township Heritage"" as well as photos for the listing of Allentown on the Federal and State Historic Register.

Son of the late Charles D. and Verna K. Knowles, he is survived by his wife, Claire Hofmann Knowles; a granddaughter, Elisa Ann Binette of Portland, OR; a cousin, Virginia Killey of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister-in-law, Shirley A. Hofmann of Lawrenceville and many caring friends.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, 10am at Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow at No. Crosswicks Cemetery. Friends may call 9 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Society of Friends at Crosswicks PO Box 456, Crosswicks, NJ 08515 or the Chesterfield Township Historical Society.
