Obituary

Burton Francis Fernandez, 83, of Cream Ridge passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home. Born in Trenton, he was a US Army Veteran who served proudly during the Korean War. He played baseball for the US Army team and the Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League team. Burton retied as a lineman from Jersey Central Power and Lighting after many years of employment. He was a member of St. Isadore the Farmer (Assumption) Church in New Egypt, the New Egypt Elks, and the Hightstown Gun Club. An avid hunter, he enjoyed many activities including, golfing, surf fishing and riding snow mobiles and motorcycles.

Son of the late Francis and Marguerite Fernandez, he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis; his stepfather, Fred Venose, and his close friends who he considered family, William Sr. and Gladys Wincklhofer. Burton is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Joseph Herbert ; his three grandchildren, Rachel, Sara and Kelli Morris; his brother Donald Fernandez; his close friends, Kathy and Tom Braun and William Jr. and Sue Wincklhofer as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 5-8pm Tuesday, February 15 th at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St., Allentown. Funeral services will be 11:00 am , Wednesday, Feb 16 th at the funeral Home. Inurnment will be private at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown at the convenience of the family.

In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Burton's name to the Children's Home Society of New Jersey, 635 S Clinton Ave, Trenton, NJ 08611 .
