Obituary

Beverly H. Robinson BORDENTOWN - Beverly H. Robinson, 96, passed away Sunday at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Hamilton. Born on a farm in Manassas, VA, that is now part of the Manassas Battlefield Park, he lived in the Bordentown area for 65 years. He graduated from the Manassas Industrial School and attended Virginia State College. He retired from the State of New Jersey in 1975 after 45 years of service. He was vice president of the state Civil Service organization from 1973 to 1974. Mr. Robinson was secretary of the Bordentown Rotary Club for 17 years and had perfect attendance for 25 years. He was very involved with the Hogar Escuela Armando Rosenberg in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a project of the Orchid Foundation of Rotary, visiting the orphanage many times. In addition, he sponsored 11 Rotary Paul Harris Fellowships. He was a member of the Bordentown Regional High School Board of Education from 1976 to 1982. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and traveling. In his travels, he visited each of the 50 states, and countries in the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. On a visit to China in 1989, he was in Beijing, staying only two blocks from Tianneman Square, when the student protesters were attacked by the military.

He was the son of the late James Alfred and Edna May Ratcliffe Robinson. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Helen Lee Robinson. He is survived by a sister, Rachel Cave; two brothers, Hugh Robinson and Louie Robinson; a daughter and son-in-law, James L. and Beverly R. Whittington of Bordentown Township; two granddaughters, Kim R. Whittington of Hopewell Township and Kathy Whittington Robinson; a grandson-in-law, William E. Robinson; three great-grandchildren, Samantha R. Robinson, David W. Robinson and Sarah E. Robinson, all of Simpsonville, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. There will be a service at 11 a.m. and burial in the Bordentown Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Foundation Inc., 8 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1925.
