Betty Ann Policastro of Spring Lake, NJ and Leesburg, Florida died peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Masonic Home in Burlington, NJ. Betty Ann was born in Bradley Beach, NJ on February 15, 1930 to the late F. Ralph and Ethel Shibla of Sea Girt, NJ.
Betty Ann graduated from Asbury Park High School and Monmouth Medical Center School of Nursing in Long Branch and became a Registered Nurse in 1950. During her career, she was the Head Nurse of the Nursery in both Fitkin (Jersey Shore) Medical Center in Neptune and Freehold Area (CentraState) Hospital. She was also part of Administration at the Ann May School of Nursing at Fitkin Hospital.
When Betty Ann wasn't tending to the needs of others, she loved interior decorating, needle point, cross stitching and square dancing. She was married to her High School sweetheart, Franklin W. Policastro and was married for 60 years before Frank passed away in 2011. Betty Ann was also predeceased by her sister, Jean White of Bradley Beach. Betty Ann was a vibrant, loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be forever missed and loved by family and friends alike. Betty Ann and Frank were blessed with two children, Douglas (Patricia) Policastro of Toms River, NJ and Gayle (William E.) Perkins of Leesburg, FL and twin grandsons, Christopher (Stephanie) Policastro of the Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York and Stephen (Megan) Policastro of Ocean Township, NJ. She also has two surviving nieces, Carole Hessles and Betty Ann Slocum, both of Bradley Beach, NJ.
Betty Ann was a faithful member of Saint Andrew's United Methodist Church in Spring Lake while she lived in New Jersey and while in Florida she was active in the Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg.
A Memorial Service will be held to honor her life at the Brigadier General William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.
