Obituary

Bette B. Hill, 80, of Bordentown Township, died Monday, March 16th, at RWJ University Hospital at Hamilton, after a brief illness. Born in Franklin, Sussex County, NJ, she was raised in Newton and Lafayette. She graduated from Newton High School and New Jersey State Teachers College at Trenton, now College of New Jersey.

Bette taught elementary school in Bordentown City and was an original faculty member of Peter Muschal School in Bordentown Township. After raising her children, she also taught for 15 years at Fieldsboro Elementary School, until the school closed in 1982 and she retired. After her retirement from teaching, she worked at the Dentist Offices of Drs. Urken, Stoneback and Ward in Bordentown City.

Bette was a member of the New Jersey Education Association and the Burlington County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Fieldsboro United Methodist Church for almost 60 years, where she was also a trustee and for many years taught Sunday school. She also volunteered for many years for Meals-On-Wheels in Northern Burlington County. Bette also enjoyed participating in a local club with many of her dearest friends.

Daughter of the late Richard and Ruth Blauvelt, wife of the late Burtis C. ""Bunker"" Hill and mother of the late Charles ""Chuck"" Hill and Beth Hill Graves, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Iris Hill and her grandsons, Russell and Grant Hill all of Bordentown City, a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Irene Blauvelt of Newton and her son-in-law, Philip Graves of London, England. Her niece and her husband Sandy and Bob Hoover of Goose Creek, SC and a nephew and his wife, Chris and Jennie Blauvelt of Lake Hopatcong, NJ. Bette is also survived by a dear friend, Bill Staub of Columbus.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Friday, March 20 at the Fieldsboro United Methodist Church, 200 Second St., Fieldsboro. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Twp. Friends may call Thursday evening 7 to 9 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown and again Friday morning 10 am until time of service at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fieldsboro United Methodist Church, 200 Second St., Fieldsboro, NJ 08505
