Bertie Thompson, 72, of Cream Ridge passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Manor in Freehold. Born in New Egypt, she resided in Yardville for several years before moving to Cream Ridge in 1989. Bertie enjoyed knitting and watching movies, and loved cats, especially her cat Frisky. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and was a devoted wife and mother.

Daughter of the late Oscar and Amelia Mae Smith, she was predeceased in August by her husband of 53 years Melvin Thompson. She was also predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Anna and Robbins Debow, Mary and Ernest Robbins, Dorothy and Harold Chamberlain; her brothers and their wives, Walter Smith, Charles and Rosemary Smith and Samuel and Delores Smith. Bertie is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Thompson and Barbara and Mark Solis as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 1pm on Wednesday, November 2nd at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St., Allentown. Interment will be held in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown. Friends may call Wednesday from 12pm until time of service at the funeral home.
