Bernard M. Chiappone ""Chip"", 79, of Bordentown, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Samaritan Hospice, Mt. Holly, with his loving family by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a retired Army veteran achieving the rank of SFC E7, was with the Special Police, marched with the Inter Service Honor Guard, and was the recipient of many medals and citations including the Purple Heart. Chip was stationed in Germany and Hawaii before settling in Bordentown in 1963. Chip was active with the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He had received the Lifetime Achievement Award as a counselor volunteer for the Deborah Hospital Zipper-Zappers in 2007 for his dedication. In 2009 Chip was proud to have been nominated for The Unsung Heroes of Burlington County Award, for all that he had accomplished. Son of the late Antonio and Madeline Chiappone and predeceased by his sister, Adelina Chiappone; he is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Eveline B. Chiappone; his children, Evelyn Richardson and her husband Randy of Burlington Twp., Michael Chiappone of Burlington Twp. and Patricia Mazurek and her husband Stephen of Chesterfield; his grandchildren, Nick and Robyn Boyer, Jennifer and Derrick Gajderowicz, Michael Chiappone, Jr., Lauren Mazurek and Travis Mazurek as well as four great grandchildren, Anthony, Kamryn, Ava and Tyler. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Saturday, November 13, at St. Francis Catholic Church on the Fort Dix Military Base. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening 5-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown and again on Saturday morning 10am until time of mass at the church. Proper ID is required and entrance should be through the gate at the Route 68 entrance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chip's name to Deborah Heart and Lung Center, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
