Barry J. Dekis, 55, of Wesley Chapel, NC, passed away March 3, 2015 in North Carolina. Born in Robbinsville, he lived in the Mercer County area for most of his life prior to moving to the Charlotte area in 2002. A graduate of St. Gregory the Great School and Notre Dame High School, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He was employed as a mechanical engineer for Turner Construction for the past 20 years. Barry was a talented athlete. He was a standout high school football player and enjoyed playing golf. He also enjoyed watching sports, staying fit and spending time with his family and friends.
Son of the late John and Mary Dekis, he was predeceased by his brother, Mark Dekis. Barry is survived by his three children, whom he adored, Nicholas Pasquarello, Dana Dekis and John Dekis; his siblings, Diane and Michael Harrison of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jack Dekis of Waynesboro, VA and Cathy and Eric Sunshine of Hamilton; his sister-in-law, Beth Cote-Dekis of Fieldsboro; the love of his life, Michelle Casey of Windsor; his nieces and nephews, Dominic and Kayti Ciaramella, Elyse Ciaramella, Natalie Sunshine, Kevin Keim and Cote Keim; his great niece, Kailey Ciaramella; his former wife, Lisa Giaquinto-Dekis and her family, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation with the family will be held Friday, March 20th from 7-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. A prayer service will begin at 7:15pm at the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
