Obituary

B. Lucille Ficken , 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Avalon Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hamilton Township, NJ. Born in Egg Harbor, NJ, she was a graduate of Egg Harbor High School and Glassboro State Teachers College (now Rowan University). Lucille began teaching in 1962 in the East Windsor School District and was one of the first instructors of the original Head Start Program. She was an accomplished pianist at a very early age, performing at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City as an adolescent. She played for various functions throughout her life, last playing piano only three weeks before her death. Her family was a source of love and pride. She will be sorely missed.

Predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Fischer and her beloved husband Robert Wm. Ficken she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Charles Carpenter of Allentown, NJ and her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Anita Ficken of Flourtown, PA. Seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10am until 11am at the Wimberg Funeral Home 211 E. Great Creek Road, Galloway, NJ 08205. A Memorial Service will follow at 11am. Burial will be held at the Germania Cemetery, Galloway, NJ.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Lucille's name may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 79 1 Mile Road Ext., East Windsor, NJ 08520.
