August Hofling, Jr., 75, of Cream Ridge, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of the Cream Ridge for 44 years. August retired as an operating engineer from I.U.O.E., Local # 825 in Little Falls and farmed at Harvest Hill Farm in Cream Ridge. He was a devoted father and husband who loved farming and the outdoors.

Son of the late August and Lena Hofling and brother of the late Mary Ann Schumacher; he is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Shirley R. Hofling; his son, Dr. August Alexander Hofling of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Dale Rose Davis and her husband John of Midlothian, VA and Heidi C. Hofling and her fiancé Bryant Kollar of Phoenixville, PA; two granddaughters, Lillian Rose and Julia Gray Davis; a cousin, John Hofling of Columbus as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 10:30am on Monday at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Emleys Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in August's name to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue PO Box 342 Perrineville, NJ 08535.
