Audrey Ruth Mount (nee Everett), 80 of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Capital Health Systems – Fuld. During her long battle with cancer, she defined courage, grace, faith and love.
She was born on the family farm on Old Post Road in Dutch Neck, New Jersey and was very proud of her farming roots and family heritage. She was a 1953 graduate of Princeton High School.
Audrey fell in love with the little village of Allentown in the late 1960s while working at Bennett-Mount farm brokerage on South Main Street. In 1970, she moved to South Main Street in Allentown where she lived until her death. She loved her historic home in the center of Allentown and along with her husband, Arthur, invested many hours of hard work restoring and maintaining it.
Audrey was active in the community for the past 47 years. She was elected to Allentown Borough Council and served many years on the Historical Preservation Review Commission. She also owned and successfully operated Village Stitchery and Gift Shoppe from her home and was a founding member of the Allentown Business Community Association. Audrey served as Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 180 and worked behind the scenes to support Troop 180 activities for a number of years. She was an active member of the Allentown Villagers and an avid member of the "Red Hats". The list of her accomplishments is long. She left this world and her community a better place.
Daughter of the late David and Hazel Everett, she was predeceased by her brother, Alfred. Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Arthur V. Mount; two sons and daughters-in-law, Everett A. and LoriSue Mount and Vernon T. and Jo Ann Mount; her grandchildren, Megan Mount, Darren and Ryan Nash, Alyssa Cymbal and Erica and Thomas Ridge; two brothers and a sister-in-law, David "Ron" and Janet Everett and Jeffrey Everett; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Verna and Vernon Holmes and Hazel and William Benscoter and; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Schmitt and Sylvia Borst as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held 11am on Monday, June 6th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Interment will be private at a later date. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm and again Monday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 39101.
