Arthur Sanford Jr., 82, of Toms River, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, surrounded by his family. Born in Newark, he resided in Freehold for most of his life prior to moving to Toms River in 2001. A US Marine Veteran, Arthur retired from the Freehold Shop Rite where he worked as the night manager. He later worked for the Manchester School System. Arthur was a member and Deacon of the Crossroad Baptist Church in Lakehurst and was a member of the Marine Corp League.
Predeceased by his grandparents Sarah and Percy Sanford, who raised him; Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Anna E. Sanford (nee Ryba); his sons and daughters-in-law, Theodore and Sandra Sanford of Wrightstown, Arthur III and Elise Sanford of Brick, Gordon and Sue Sanford of Howell and David and Donna Sanford of Brick; his sister Agnes and her husband Frank Budden of Toms River; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11am on Monday at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5pm and again Monday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church, 201 Brown Ave, Lakehurst, NJ 08733.
