Armond L. Ferrara, 86, of Allentown, passed away Monday at his home. Born in Princeton, he was an Allentown resident for over 50 years. A WWII Army Veteran Mr. Ferrara served in the third Armored ""Spearhead"" Division and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. A graduate of Princeton High School, Rider College and Rutgers University, Mr. Ferrara retired from Allentown Upper Freehold School District where he was an Allentown High School Teacher for over 40 years was the head of the business department, golf coach and served in many other capacities. He was a member of the Delegate Assembly of NJEA, the American Legion Post 33 of Yardville and the Allentown Lions Club.
Son of the late Lawrence and Anna Ferrara, he was predeceased by five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Freda Ferrara; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and James Barto of Mexico and Valerie and Thomas Ryan of Allentown; three grandchildren, Justin Burt, Thomas Ryan, Jr. and Michael Ryan; great granddaughter, Isabella Burt; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Vince and Ida Ferrara of GA and Lawrence Ferrara of Princeton; two sisters, Gloria Sanlorenzo of LI, NY and Lucy Brearley of Lawrenceville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call Wednesday 7-9pm at the funeral home.
