Arietta Costalas, 92, of Allentown, NJ, passed Saturday at her home. Born in Chios, Greece, she had lived a majority of her life in Brooklyn, before moving to Long Island, with her final year in Allentown. She was a member of the Kimisis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church and was very active in the charitable affairs of the church.
Wife of the late Miltiades Costalas, mother of the late George Costalas and mother-in-law of the late Alice Costalas, she is survived by 5 sons and daughters-in-law; John Costalas of Northampton, PA., James and Mollie Costalas of Allentown, NJ., Peter and Ann Costalas of Harbor Isle, NY., Steve and Virginia Costalas of Allentown, NJ., Nicholas and Carmen Costalas of Reisterstown, MD., and Georgia Costalas of Brooklyn. She was blessed with and loved her 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A Greek Orthodox Funeral Service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, November 14, at Kimisis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 224 18th Street, Brooklyn, NY, with Very Rev. Damaskinos Ganas officiating. Interment will follow in The Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY. Friends may call Tuesday 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S.
