IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antonina
Cigna
April 18, 1925 – April 27, 2020
Antonina 'Nina' Cigna, 95, of Brooklyn, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Siculiana, Agrigento, Italy; she moved to the US just after World War 2. Nina was very proud that she and her family came to the US as Naturalized Citizens, since her Dad had fought in World War I for the USA.
After several years in the US, she vacationed in Italy and was introduced by her future brother-in-law to her husband of 57 years, Joseph Cigna. After living in Milan, Italy for a few years as newlyweds, the devoted couple settled in Brooklyn, NY and built a beautiful life together. In their retirement years, the couple enjoyed extensive travel and watching their grandchildren grow.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Bernard's Parish in Brooklyn. Nina enjoyed a wonderful prayer life, always thanking God and praying for her family and future generations. She loved blowing kisses. She will hold a very special place in the hearts of her family, friends and all those who were recipients of her kisses, prayers, good wishes, and love.
Nina was a talented seamstress, great cook and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Daughter of the late Charles and Rosalia DiSalvo; she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Cigna. Antonina is survived by her two sons, Sal and his wife, Roseann, of Massapequa, NY, and Charles "Rich" Cigna of Robbinsville and her 6 grandchildren, Joseph Charles, Alex, Christa, Julius, Marcus, and Joseph Paul.
