Alvin H. Cubberley, 87, of Moorestown, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Samaritan Hospice, Mt. Holly, surrounded by his loving family. He was the true epitome of a loving family man who will be greatly missed by all. Born in Groveville, one of seven children to the late Jacob and Violet Cubberley, he resided in Hamilton Square for 50 years until moving to Jackson seven years ago. Alvin was employed for 40 years as a distributor for 7-Up Bottling Company. A WWII Army Veteran, Alvin enlisted at the age of 19 and served as a medic in the ""B"" Company of the 906th Army Medical Detachment of the 223rd regiment of the 81st Infantry division, also known as the ""Wildcat"" division. He received medals for the Philippine Liberation, battle of Pelilu and New Guinea, among others.
Predeceased by his infant son Alvin, his beloved daughter Susan Smith, his siblings Reba, Belle, Charles, Myrtle and Leslie; he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Adele Guenther Cubberley; two daughters and sons-in-law Rosanne and David Palmieri of Morrisville and Nancy and Owen Briggs of Allentown; two sons David and his wife Yvonne van Bochove of Jackson and Steven and his fiancée, Lynda Kelly of Florence; 12 grandchildren, David Frank Palmieri and his wife Christine, Melissa Mandeville and her husband William, Jessica Colombino and her husband Samuel, Kristopher Smith, Megan Nowak and her husband Jason, Laura Briggs and her fiancé Anthony Princiotta, Julie Briggs, Cori Lynn, Nicole, Collin and Brenden Cubberley and Bryan Kelly; 6 great grandchildren, Amanda and Jacqueline Palmieri, Susan and Ruby Mandeville, Patrick Nowak and Anna Rose Colombino; brother and sister-in-law Carlton and Alice Cubberley; sisters-in-law Mae and John Klauser and Jane and Donald Mayer; brotherâ??in-law Ernest and Dorothy Guenther as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Saturday at St. Johns Church 1282 Allentown Rd., Allentown. Interment will follow in Cream Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 6-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown.
