IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alton P.
Ervin
March 5, 1941 – May 20, 2022
Alton Ervin (US Navy Retired)
It is with heavy hearts, our family wants to share that our cherished Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Chief Petty Officer Alton Ervin passed away in Green Valley, Arizona on May 20, 2022. Born in Browntown, NJ (now known as Old Bridge) Alton lived in Florence, NJ then Bordentown, NJ before moving to Green Valley AZ, in September 2020. Alton (friends and family called him Erv) was a talented but quiet man that could fix anything mechanical.
Alton was on active duty with the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He spent the majority of his military career stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He sailed the Seven Seas seeing sights we only dream of. He crossed the Equator and the Arctic Circle with many tales to tell. Upon his retirement he settled with his wife Barbara and three children in Cream Ridge, NJ.
Son of the late Jeremiah and Helen Ervin, Alton was the youngest of 8 children growing up on his family apple farm. Alton is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 50 years Barbara Ervin. His three surviving daughters are Ann Ervin of Allentown NJ, Joan Jorgensen (Joel) of Sierra Vista AZ, and Jane (John) Russ of Vail AZ. His grandchildren are Jennifer, Jason, Jack and Aaron and great-grandson Gavin.
The family welcomes you to his viewing at Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ on June 2, 2022, from 9:30a to 10:30a. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at June 2, 2022 11a at Mary Mother of the Church Parish worship site Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Ave, Roebling, NJ. Interment ceremony will follow at 12:30p at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ, 08562.
We would like to thank Nurse Dawn and the staff at The Clare Estates, Bordentown, NJ for the care they provided Alton while he lived there. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Alton's name to the Burlington County Animal Shelter where he adopted his beloved cat, Mr. Kitty.
