Obituary

Alice F. Conklin, 82, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Hamilton. Born in Meadville, PA, she resided in Allentown for many years. A graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing in New York, she worked as Head Nurse of the Newborn Nursey in Freehold Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Allentown Presbyterian Church. Alice attended the Women's Bible Study, was a mentor in the church's youth program and led classes for new members. Her delight was in shopping with her daughters and granddaughter, reading and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles but her passion was cleaning!

Daughter of the late Brigadier Edward F. and Elizabeth A. Gibson who were ministers in the Salvation Army, Alice was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Richard M. Conklin. She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Debbie and Walter Hoag of Robbinsville, Jane Conklin of Robbinsville and Nancy Conklin of Allentown; her granddaughter, Chloe Hoag of Robbinsville; her sister, Marjorie Peterson of Rockford, MI and her sister-in-law, Barbara Walsh of Hamilton as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 11am on Saturday, September 16th at the Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St., Allentown. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice's name to The Salvation Army National Headquarters, 615 Slaters Lane, P.O. Box 269, Alexandria, VA 22313. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
