Obituary

Dr. Albert E. Sacco of Allentown, NJ passed away on Tuesday, November 15 th at home.

A New York native, Dr. Sacco was a long time resident of Colts Neck, NJ where he resided for more than 30 years and later moved to Allentown, NJ in 2002.  Born on March 8, 1939, he grew up in New Hyde Park, NY and summered with his family in Greenport, NY until his family moved to Peconic, NY, on the eastern end of Long Island.

Dr. Sacco graduated from Chaminade Preparatory High School in Mineola, NY, in 1957. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in biology from St. Bonaventure University, in Olean, NY in 1961. While there, he was Captain of the Swim Team with his strength in the free style event. Upon graduation in 1964 from Seton Hall College of Dentistry in Jersey City, NJ, he was selected for the prestigious US Army Dental Internship program. He began his internship with the grade of Captain reporting to Fort Benning, Georgia. After completing a tour of duty in Vietnam, he was stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ.

Upon his discharge from the army, Dr. Sacco opened his office for the practice of general dentistry in Little Silver, NJ.  He practiced for more than 40 years until his retirement in July, 2010. Dr. Sacco was the recipient of the Charles F. Harper Memorial Award given by the New Jersey State Dental Society for excellence in the field of dental writing.

Dr. Sacco had a passion for life.  Among his many hobbies and interests were sailing, fishing, photography and nature.

He is survived by his wife Melissa and his son Adam. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Dennis) Collins and his brother Richard (Monica) both residing in St. James, NY.

Visiting hours will be held at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown on Sunday from 12-4, and 6-8pm and again on Monday 10am, with funeral service to follow at 12 noon.  Interment will follow at the BG William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Albert's name to the Abramson Cancer Center, C/O UPenn, 3451 Walnut Street, Room 433, Philadelphia, PA 19104-6205.
