Adele R. Foggin, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. Born and raised in Port Richmond, Staten Island, she had lived in Allentown, NJ prior to moving to Tinton Falls, NJ. She had worked as a buyer for Montgomery Ward of New York City, a professional dancer, an operator and customer service representative for Bell Telephone and at one time owned and operated a Ballet Studio in Bayonne, NJ. Adele performed at the New York State World's Fair in 1939. She was the first women civic leader of the Decker Avenue Civic Association in Staten Island; member of the St. Ann's Guild of St. Rochs Church, a Camp Fire Girls Board of Trustee, and was a member of St. John's Church in Allentown. She had a great love for family members who were part of the FDNY, she cherished Staten Island, the Jersey Shore, NY Giants Baseball and the NY Yankees.
Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Ward and wife of 56 years to the late William H. Foggin, she is survived by her two children, Ward E. (Elizabeth Kenny-Foggin) of Tinton Falls, NJ and Mary Ann Salvatore of Allentown, NJ; four grandchildren, Maura and Caitlin Foggin and Stephen and Michael Salvatore; a sister-in-law, Edna Cirignano of Staten Island and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Saturday, February 27th at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown, NJ. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St, Allentown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475.
