John J. Rooney, 70, of Robbinsville, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton, with his family by his side. Born in New York, NY, he resided in Robbinsville for the past 6 years.  John was a graduate of St. John’s University in Brooklyn, NY, and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.  He retired as an accountant for Gemini Traffic Sales.  After his retirement, John enjoyed traveling and playing golf. John was a member of St. John’s Church, Allentown, a member of Knights of Columbus, Queenship of Mary Council #12004, and was active in the Enchantment Adult Community where he lived. 

Son of the late John J. and Mary Kozlowski Rooney, he was predeceased by three siblings, Robert Rooney, Madeline Corbett and Walter Rooney. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bernadette Clauberg Rooney; daughter Katherine and son-in-law Scott Stroud of Bethesda, MD, son John Rooney of Branchburg, and daughter Megan and son-in-law David Patterson of Hoboken. John was a very proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Maura and Colleen Stroud. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, William and Elizabeth Rooney of Ridgewood, and Edward Rooney of Bedford, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, January 27th at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 1281 Yardville-Allentown Road, Allentown.  Cremation will be private at the convenience of the family.  Friends may call Thursday from 2-4pm and again from 7-9pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main Street, Allentown.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson, Hamilton.
